Emotional meaning of the foot

The foot is an essential part of our body, just imagine what would be of us without this portion. The foot is decisive for the well-being and quality of life. There are quite a few people who suffer from foot disorders and do not know what emotional conflict may be reflecting their ailment or discomfort.

What I wish to express in this article, I summarize in this phrase of my own authorship: "Our body screams what the mind is silent". And to succinctly argue what it means, let's take the line of some concepts:

The unconscious mind and the threat of survival

The unconscious mind in its eagerness to guarantee survival, solves the conflicts that we have not managed to resolve through what we call, disease. The scientist David R. Hawkins puts it this way: “As most people suppress and avoid their emotions throughout their lives, repressed energy accumulates and seeks to express itself through psychosomatic affliction, bodily disorders, emotional illnesses and disorderly behavior in interpersonal relationships. Accumulated emotions block spiritual growth and awareness, as well as success in many areas of life. ” Dr. Ryke Geerd Hamer also in his discoveries embodied in the theory of New German Medicine, defines the disease as a Special Nature Program with Biological Sense (SBS), which originates from a biological shock that threatens survival or interpreted archaically as a possible threat to survival.

So that the disease is a set of symptoms that reflect the solution to a biological conflict caused by an emotional impact that occurs when there is a threat to survival. Each disorder of a component of our body is showing in a specific way, how the unconscious resolves the impact and of course, the meaning of the conflict.

Foot physiology

To get into the subject it is essential to know the usefulness of the foot and some of its characteristics, let's see:

The feet together with the ankle form a structure of twenty-six bones, thirty-three joints and more than one hundred muscles, ligaments and tendons. As for its bone components, the phalanges (the bones of the fingers), the metatarsal and the tarsus can be distinguished. The feet serve to support the body, cushioning, apart, they are necessary in the stabilization and in the march. Various foot disorders can impede or even prevent a subject from standing up or moving.

According to the above, when we manifest, be: a nuisance, injury, pain, or any type of symptom on one or both feet, we can ask ourselves the following question, to begin to become aware of the conflict that the unconscious is reflecting in the foot, what is this disorder preventing me?

The answer to the above question is what defines the generality of the conflict we are experiencing. Now, knowing since when the symptoms are occurring, the type, location, and the state or situation that the person was living at the time they were initiated, are what will determine the type of conflict we have. Being in possession of an accurate medical diagnosis is essential to accurately identify the problem. Since, in view of the above, the foot is composed of many bones, joints, muscles, cartilage and tendons, and each part is expressing a specific conflict.

Emotional meaning of the foot

The foot in its global context represents emotionally, the connection with the “mother earth” and, therefore, the disorders in this part of the body are related to the mother or the maternal function, that is, to what “the mother” means for one person. The nature of the mother is to provide food, shelter and care; therefore, it can be represented with the biological mother, the person as a mother or with a model that has performed this function - especially in childhood -, such as: an institution, a family member and even the same father. The foot can show conflicts related to the progress of life, not being able to follow or take a certain path, to jump, to stand up, etc. The feet give stability in the movements towards a purpose, a direction. The shape of the feet and walking inform of various tendencies and resistance in life. A symptom linked to the feet reflects a conflict between the direction and the gesture that is performed; evidencing a need for greater security and stability in the path that leads or will be undertaken.

Each component of the foot expresses the conflict to be solved and it gives us more concrete indications of the matter, for example: the first (big toe) finger represents an obligation to the mother; the second relates to siblings, partners, coworkers; the third with the communication; the fourth with injustice and the fifth, with the territory. As the feet in the general context manifest problems with “the mother”, each party will specify the kind of conflict and indicate in more detail the situation of lived stress that has generated an impact on the person. When the feet hurt, there is a need to slow down or lighten it with respect to the situation, or to heal with emotion in the sense of the "mother" context. A flat foot tends to indicate rigidity with life or with the situations or actions performed; given that there is no space between the foot and the earth. Feet inclined outward can show confusion in the direction taken, and inclined inward, a closure or resistance to future directions. Calluses represent fear of walking into the unknown, according to their position, and athlete's foot, problems of acceptance or separation according to the place where itching occurs.

Emotional conflicts in the feet express the need to accept, free or heal resentment towards the "mother" archetype. Also, to acquire confidence and security both to walk through life, and to make decisions that lead to future goals.

Healing through the foot

The healing or healing of the symptoms that are manifested not only in the feet, but in the rest of our body, is always integral. In other words, healing is generated in the synergy of various disciplines and, of course, in the awareness of the conflict on the part of the affected person, in which is the key to healing. However, the emotional aspect of being present in any type of physical, mental, behavioral symptom; it needs to be treated so that true healing occurs and the symptoms do not recur or reproduce in another part of the body, since the biological conflict has not been resolved. Physical or psychological health can be recovered, but if situations similar to those caused by the previous symptoms are experienced, the unconscious will interpret them in the same way and the symptoms will return, this is what is called a recurrence.

The person who has a physical problem on his foot, needs to be aware of the emotional conflict that presents, discover the hidden emotion that created it, make a change of perception based on personal responsibility and relate this conflict with the possible implications of it, on your emotional heritage. In this way and in collaboration with other areas of health, the person will find physical, emotional, and, if necessary, spiritual healing. Healing occurs in the globality of who we are.
