Homophilia refers to the tendency that people have to generate emotional bonds mainly with other people who are similar to us.
Individuals more easily create homophilic relationships in which we share common characteristics (beliefs, values, education, etc.) as communication and relationship formation are facilitated.
The idea that similarity leads to connectivity. In other words, the tendency of individuals to join each other is similar in regard to social factors such as: age, class, ethnicity, gender and / or organizational roles.
The opposite of homophilia is heterophilia or mixture.
